Since 1986, Ivy Lea Shirt Co. has made a conscious effort to preserve and protect the heritage of the old canoe-building companies of Canada.
In the first instance, this means that we present the names of these old companies—Peterborough, Chestnut, Walter Dean, etc.—to the public by showing their old trade-marks on clothing. We may also use old advertising images, for example, to display the name of a company and in this way keep the name alive, so to speak.
We have gone to great lengths to represent our trade-marks in authentic fashion, bearing in mind that, originally, they were not intended for use on clothing. For the rest of the process, we try to match the old designs with clothing that our customers will find attractive, stylish and appealing.
Over the years, the Registrar of Trade-Marks for Canada has granted to Ivy Lea Shirt Co. Ltd. the exclusive proprietary right and use—with all due protection under law—to the following names and designs:
Chestnut Canoe Co. & Design (TMA 402,903)
Chestnut (TMA 402,904)
Peterborough Canoe Co. & Design (TMA 380,999)
