Some years ago, we obtained from one of our customers a box of items saved when the Chestnut factory on Oromocto, N.B. was being cleaned out in 1978 – 79.
We now offer these to canoe enthusiasts as keepsakes, souvenirs or to use in that very special restoration project.

These decals are original and were used by the old Chestnut Canoe Co. in its factories in Fredericton and Oromocto, New Brunswick.
A large decal with the word CHESTNUT prominently splashed across it. Most often used on outboard runabout boats manufactured by the Chestnut Canoe Co. It could also be seen on the winter smowmobile sleds built by the Chestnut company. Occasionally, you see it on canoes. One appealing photo of Chestnut canoes shows a whole group of them piled atop one another awaiting pick-up beside a lake in Algonquin Park. They are aluminum and all have the big decal on the bow. One of our customers recently reported finding a canvas canoe with this decal on it. Measures about 8 inches x 5 inches. Old peel-off style with instructions printed on the backing paper.

The regular deck decal for canoes used by Chestnut Canoe Co. when it moved down the St. John River in 1974 to its new plant in Oromocto, N.B. For some reason, little attention was paid to the colourful and unusual artwork on the decals from the old factory in Fredericton. These originals are very plain and made in the peel-off style. Just peel and stick. About the same size as our reproduction decals - 3 x 3.
# W34-O Original Chestnut Canoe Deck Decal Price: $ 7.50 ea.

These superb little fellows decorated the forward crossbar of the Chestnut snowshoes. We used the image (and still do) on some of the garment tags with our Chestnut T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. They measure about 2 x 1 and are of the simple peel-off type.
# W35-O Original Chestnut Snowshoe Decal Price: $ 5.00 ea.

This is believed to be the last catalogue put out by the Chestnut Canoe Co. It has only eight pages done on a light card stock. Printed in a sepia tone, it is designed to be a kind of information brochure and specifications chart combined. The pages cover LOOKING BACK (a sketch of the company’s past), WOOD CANVAS CONSTRUCTION (how the canoes are made in the factory), MODELS (including Pleasure, Cruisers, Prospectors, Ogilvy canoes and Freighter canoes), PADDLE CONSTRUCTION, a page on more modern materials, and a final page on SPECIFICATIONS. Good general look at what the owners of the company wanted to say about themselves and their canoes right at the last. Measures 8+1/2 x 11 inches.
# W36-O Original 1970’s Brochure Price: $ 7.50 ea.
