Fine example of Canadian commercial art of the ’thirties. Dramatic sunset scene, canoe by the lake and friends in the sunset. Even the art deco type is beautiful. The smallest poster we have done to date: only 18 inches by 12 inches with lots of white space. Good-looking either framed or dry-mounted.

We have re-printed one side of a rare 1922 broadsheet, originally folded into a brochure. It now makes a beautiful addition to the decor of an apartment, office, home or cottage. Selected canoes shown with details of construction. Poster also gives a sketch of the company’s “History.”

Main image is artist’s impression of lady canoeist from an early Chestnut catalogue. Embellished with original seal of the parent firm R. Chestnut & Sons (1922), the leafy Chestnut canoe decal (1960s), Chestnut patent paper for canvas-covered canoes (1905) and the cover of a rare canoe catalog (1913) kindly loaned by a friend in Maine. Suitable for framing and many kinds of mounting.
